Feel understood in therapy

Expansive Therapy is a psychotherapy practice with locations in New York and California. We offer online therapy to clients anywhere within NY and CA, as well as limited in-person therapy in Los Angeles and New York City.

We welcome all racial, ethnic, sexual, and gender identities. Our top priority is creating an affirming and empowering space for every individual. We are the first psychotherapy practice ever to be featured in Out Magazine’s Out100. We are proud to be a 100% LGBTQ owned business.

Founders of Expansive Therapy

Nick Fager & Megan Murphy
Dual Licensed Mental Health & Processional Clinical Counselors

We started the practice with the hope of creating affirming space for marginalized people experiencing distress. All of our therapists are committed to the ongoing work of unearthing and challenging our own biases. Every session gives us the opportunity to validate our client’s lived experience, and provide the space for healing and expansion.

Expansive Therapy teamed up with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score, from 2021 to 2022. Dr. van der Kolk directly supervised our therapists in order to better address the effects of trauma on our clients.
